Our curriculum is designed to teach and educate your child through fun and engaging activities, My Little Monkey is a proud member of the International Pre-School Curriculum (IPC) and introduces its own methods to set a new standard of childcare.
The IPC consists of a statutory framework for the Early Years which sets the standards for learning development and care for children from 4 month to six years of age. The practice guidance documents support staff in assessing a child's progress and helps them to provide the best learning experiences for all babies and children.
INFANT (4- 12 month)
Welcome to the Infant Room! Nurturing caregivers, provide attentive, affectionate care, bathing the infants in language as they perform everyday routines. The infant program meets the needs for physical comfort, emotional security, beginning socialization and language development for the infant from age 4 months to 12 months.
The environment is set up to foster all aspects of the infant’s developmental stages. Artistic pieces are located in unexpected places helping babies learn about themselves and explore different points of view. Feeding, diapering and sleeping compose much of the infant's day. The infant's sense of emotional security is enhanced by the nurturing, loving adults who care for the child. The caregivers encourage the appropriate physical skills for the child's age. The beginning of socialization occurs in the infant room, when the child notices the other children. Language development is enriched by teachers who speak frequently to the child and read to him/her each day.
An environment of bright colors and appropriate toys provides optimum stimulation for the infant's growth. Floor gyms, mirrors, and soft toys surround the youngest children. As the child matures, the learning materials grow more complex. The child who is able to sit and crawl is introduced to balls, stacking and sorting toys, as well as blocks. The young walker is encouraged with push toys, table toys, and simple art materials. Music is an important element of the curriculum for every infant, youngest to oldest.
TODDLERS 1 (12 months - 2 years)
Welcome to the world of Toddler 1’s. At this age we introduce the children to activities which help them express themselves through sound, imagination, and through experimenting with color, texture and shape. We also help children to understand their emotions and develop their relationships with other children through empathy and concern. Toddlers have a rapid developmental sense of themselves; which is characterized by physical movement, language acquisition and the exploration of social relationships and imaginative play.
Cozy areas of the nursery are reserved for stories, rhymes and songs. Carpet, mirrors and wooden toys enhance tactile and visual stimulation, and the room is designed to encourage physical skills such as sitting, standing and walking. An environment of bright colors and appropriate toys provides optimum stimulation for the toddler’s growth. As the child matures, the learning materials grow more complex. Music is an important element of the curriculum for every toddler, youngest to oldest. Art will be incorporated in all content areas. Our Toddler 1 Curriculum ensures that your toddler's day will be filled with things to explore, items to see, objects to touch.
TODDLERS 2 (2 - 3 years)
Welcome to Toddler 2! In our Toddler 2 rooms you can find a fully balanced day with tons of imaginative activates and play. The children are in a caring atmosphere, with a reassuring routine, and stimulating activities. They learn through a balance of play, teacher-facilitated activities, and repetition. It is the optimum environment for learning at this level of development. We also help children to understand their emotions and develop their relationships with other children through empathy and concern. Teachers in the Toddler 2 rooms help children become more independent.
Many self help skills are introduced to the children through daily routines and cooperative play. The children are taught to be more vocal resulting in language development. An environment of bright colors and appropriate toys provides optimum stimulation for the toddler’s growth. As the child matures, the learning materials grow more complex. Music is an important element of the curriculum for every toddler, youngest to oldest. Art will be incorporated in all content areas.
YOUNG PRE-SCHOOL (3 - 4 years)
Welcome to the world of Young Pre! In the Young Preschool years children grow and learn at a fast pace; they are excited and challenged by the new world they are discovering. Young Preschool children want to touch, taste, and smell, hear, and test things for themselves. Our Younger Pre class incorporates the four important developmental areas: Social, Emotional, Cognitive and Physical. We've added one more to ours; Character Development.
Children at this age need patience and guidance, learning how to interact with their peers and making positive choices. Their language skills and experience in resolving conflicts is increasing. We provide many opportunities for them to practice their language skills. Included in our program are experiences in language arts, dramatic play, fine motor skills, gross motor skills, creative arts, science, math, music, and movement. They are eager to learn. They learn by experiencing and by doing. Preschoolers learn from their play. They are busy developing skills, using language, and struggling to gain inner control. Younger preschoolers are encouraged to complete their toilet training. A relaxed approach is used, along with positive reinforcement. Teachers provide children with the most enhanced learning methods. Young Preschoolers are well on their way to Older Preschool with the essential learning foundation needed at this age.
PRE-SCHOOL (4 - 6 years)
Our preschoolers will begin to experience the joy of self-expression in the areas of music, arts & crafts, movement, story hour, and games in our supervised play areas. Dramatic play, outside play, music & movement, blocks and science are a big part of their day. Teachers will support preschoolers’ learning with exciting activities to best meet their cognitive, physical and social-emotional development.
Field trips play a big role in an effort to bring community into the classroom. Preschoolers are also allowed blocks of time to explore their environment and to delve into projects that interest them and which might take days, or even weeks to complete. These children are on the move and becoming more independent. We need to develop their manipulative and coordination skills with puzzles and games, their creative skills with drawing, painting, sticking, cutting and free expression, their language skills with books, poetry, songs and individual and group discussion. Climbing frames, soft play, music and dance support their spatial awareness and body control, while jumping, kicking a ball or balancing on one leg offer fun and physical challenges. Play is focused on helping children develop self-care skills, as well as encouraging independence.
